Sure, there are the tried and true holiday cocktails, but if you’re looking to upgrade from your standard eggnog and mulled wine this season, there are plenty of fresh and festive ideas to test out. Spruce you your next holiday party with one of these simple holiday-inspired cocktail recipes.
1-Chai Orange Latte

Ingredients
3 cups low-fat milk
5 chai tea bags
1 cup 100% pure orange juice
1 orange zested
3 tablespoons sucanat
1 cinnamon stick
4 cloves whole
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
Directions
- Add 1 cup milk to a saucepan, heat to steaming, remove from heat and add tea bags. Allow tea bags to steep for 10 minutes, remove bags and pour chai milk into a large saucepan along with all other ingredients. Stir ingredients, heat on medium-low until desired heat.
- Remove cinnamon stick and cloves. Serve in mugs using a ladle.
Notes
Tip: For a frothy presentation, while still in the saucepan, whisk for about one minute. Be careful not to allow contents to splash on skin as it is very hot at this point.Sucanat can be found in the organic section of most grocery stores and in all whole food type stores. Honey can be substituted for sucanat in equal amounts.
2-Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
1 scoop of protein powder
1 1/2 cups almond milk plain
1 banana frozen, sliced
1 tablespoon peanut butter
Directions
- Add all ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth. Add ice for a thicker smoothie.
3-Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
1/4 cup tofu
1 cup soy milk plain
1 cup blueberries frozen, no sugar added
1 cup spinach raw, loosely packed
1 banana large, sliced
4-Pineapple Breeze Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup pineapple fresh, chopped
1 banana medium, sliced
1 cup spinach fresh, loosely packed
1 cup soy milk
1/4 cup tofu
5-Cinnamon Apple Smoothie

Ingredients
1 apple chopped
1/4 cup tofu
1/4 cup apple juice unsweetened
3/4 cup soy milk
1 cup spinach raw
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6-Green Tea Mango Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup spinach raw
1 mango large, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup apple juice unsweetened
1 medium banana
3/4 inch tofu block or 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
1 cup green tea brewed
1/2 inch ginger fresh, sliced, and peeled, but optional

Be sure to brew the tea the night before and store in fridge so it’s cold and ready to go.
7-Banana Grape Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup baby spinach loosely packed
1 cup kale leaves stems removed and lightly chopped
1 tablespoon ginger fresh, minced, optional
1 banana frozen and sliced
10 red grapes frozen
1/2 cup Greek yogurt fat-free and plain
1 cup green tea cold and unsweetened
1/2 cup pomegranate juice no-sugar added
8-Orange Passion Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup baby spinach organic
2 oranges peeled
1/3 cup pineapple juice no sugar added
1/3 cup orange juice or 1/3 cup additional pineapple juice, no sugar added
1 cup ice
9-Vegas Razzle-Dazzle Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup kale stems removed and lightly chopped
1 cup baby spinach loosely packed
1 banana frozen, sliced
1 gala apple medium, sliced
1/2 cup fat free plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 cup ice

- Toss all the above ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth & creamy. It will take a minute for all the ingredients to blend but be patient…this smoothie is ultra-rich & creamy and well worth the extra minute or so. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with cinnamon. Now, sip away and think of something fun!
10-Melon Breeze Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup kale leaves removed from stem and lightly chopped
1 cup baby spinach loosely packed
1 banana frozen and sliced
1 cup honeydew melon diced
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 cup plain fat-free Greek Yogurt
1/2 cup ice
Directions
- Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour this treat into a chilled glass. Now close your eyes, sip and experience the breeze!!!
11-Blue Paradise Smoothie

Ingredients
2 cups baby spinach organic
1/2 cup light coconut milk organic or skim milk will work
1/2 cup pineapple juice unsweetened
1/2 cup pineapple chunks frozen unsweetened: about 8 chunks or 1 serving
1 cup wild blueberries frozen
1/2 cup Greek yogurt plain fat free

- Add all the above ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you like Pina Coladas and blueberries you’ll love this smoothie. Paradise is just a sip away!
12-Healthy Hot Maple-Apple Cider

Ingredients
1 3/4 pound sweet apples organic
water
2 tablespoons maple syrup all natural organic
1 cinnamon stick
Directions
- Clean and cut the apples into wedges, remove core and seeds. Place the apple wedges, cinnamon stick, and maple syrup into a deep pot. Pour enough water to cover the apples by 1 inch (2.5 cm). Partially cover the pot and simmer for 2 hours -at which time the apples should be completely broken down.
- Pour through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Serve warm or if consuming later allow to cool before storing in the refrigerator.
Notes
If concerned about pesticides use organic apples otherwise you can peel them first before using for safe results.
13-Quinoa Banana Berry Smoothie

Ingredients
1/2 cup quinoa cooked, cook according to package and chill
1 banana frozen, pre-sliced
1 cup raspberries frozen
1 1/2 cups green tea home brewed without added sweeteners is best, add more or less depending on consistency preferred
6 ice cubes
Notes
Tip: Quinoa can be purchased in the organic or health food section of most supermarkets. We recommend Inca Red, pre-washed. Also, red Quinoa is slightly sweeter than white or black, which is perfect for this recipe.
14-Mediterranean Smoothie

Ingredients
2 cups baby spinach loosely packed, organic
1 teaspoon ginger root fresh, minced
1 banana frozen, pre-sliced
1 mango small
1/2 cup beet juice beets originate in the Mediterranean
1/2 cup skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
6 ice cubes
Notes
You can purchase beets in a can which have beet juice already. I prefer to make my own. Wash fresh beets, pat dry, preheat oven to 375 degrees, rub the outside of beets with a little olive oil, wrap in foil and roast for 50 – 60 minutes or until tender. All beets to cool at room temperature and peel. Add one beet to smoothie and you’ve got one healthy drink!
15-Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie

Ingredients
1 banana large, pre-sliced into 1″ pieces frozen
6 strawberries large, unsweetened, frozen
1/2 inch ginger root fresh sliced, optional
1 cup skim milk substitute almond milk or milk alternative
1/2 cup Greek yogurt plain fat free
1/4 cup wheat germ
Directions
- Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy…just like a milkshake. Add a straw and enjoy!

Ingredients
2 cups tomato juice low sodium chilled
